STEVE HAINAN FROM KILMARNOCK FOUND GUILTY OF SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON GIRLS IN CLYDEBANK AND KILMARNOCK

In a disturbing series of criminal cases, Steven Hainan, a 32-year-old resident of Kilmarnock, has been convicted of multiple sexual offenses involving young girls in the areas of Clydebank and Kilmarnock. The verdict was delivered by a jury at Dumbarton Sheriff Court last week, following a detailed examination of evidence related to a string of heinous acts committed against four young victims.

Hainan was found guilty of sexually assaulting three girls while they were asleep in Clydebank. The assaults took place over several years, with the first incident occurring at an unspecified date between July 2006 and December 2009 at an address in Faifley. During this time, Hainan engaged in lewd, indecent, and libidinous conduct towards a girl aged between 12 and 16. He entered her bedroom while she was sleeping, pulled down her bedclothes, lifted her clothing, and touched her breast inappropriately.

On a separate occasion at the same residence, Hainan repeated his misconduct by entering another girl’s room, who was then between 13 and 16 years old. He again pulled down her bedclothes and touched her buttock, engaging in lewd behavior that caused significant distress.

The third victim, who was between 8 and 13 years old at the time, was subjected to multiple assaults. Hainan sexually violated her, grabbing her and touching her breasts, buttocks, and legs. On one particular occasion, while she was sleeping, he knelt beside her bed, inserted his hand into her clothing, and touched her private parts, further compounding the severity of his crimes.

In addition to the Clydebank incidents, Hainan was also convicted of a separate assault that took place in Kilmarnock in September 2018. The victim, then 13 years old, was sexually assaulted at a property in the town. Hainan touched her over her clothing, kissed her on the lips and cheek, and pursued her. While she was lying on a couch attempting to sleep, he placed his hand inside her jumper and touched her waist, actions that constitute serious sexual misconduct.

It is noteworthy that a fifth charge, which involved sexually assaulting the third victim when she was 13, was dropped by the Crown before the case reached its conclusion. Despite this, the jury convicted Hainan of four other charges by a majority verdict. Sheriff Maxwell Hendry adjourned the case for reports until November 17, and Hainan remains on bail until that date. He is also subject to the interim notification requirements of the sex offenders register, reflecting the seriousness of his crimes and the ongoing legal process.

Hainan’s actions have caused significant distress to the victims and their families, and the court’s decision underscores the importance of justice in cases involving sexual abuse of minors. The community awaits further proceedings as Hainan’s case continues to be reviewed and assessed by the authorities.
