STEVEN EDGAR FROM ARNOLD SENTENCED FOR RAPE OF 11-YEAR-OLD BOY IN NOTTINGHAM

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Arnold and the wider Nottingham area, Steven Edgar, aged 18, was sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to the serious crime of raping an 11-year-old boy. The incident came to light during a routine family dispute when the victim’s mother overheard an argument between her son and his older brother. During this confrontation, the brother handed over the victim’s mobile phone, which contained highly disturbing images that ultimately led to Edgar’s arrest and conviction.

According to court records, Edgar committed the assault between December 26 and December 27, 2017. The young victim disclosed to his mother that he had been raped by Edgar while he was at Edgar’s residence in Arnold. The mother’s discovery of explicit photographs on her son’s phone revealed images of Edgar standing behind the boy, who was unclothed from the waist down. Additional images showed Edgar exposing himself, further implicating him in the abuse.

The court heard that the victim recounted to police that he had been watching a film with Edgar on Boxing Day before falling asleep. When he awoke, he found himself naked, with photographs of the incident on his phone. At that time, Edgar was present in the room, also naked, on the other side of the bed. During police interviews, the victim revealed that he had consumed a bottle of cider and smoked some cannabis, substances that Edgar had provided him. The young boy also confided that he had not told anyone about the assault because Edgar had threatened to physically harm him if he did.

In addition to his prison sentence, Edgar was ordered to adhere to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order. He is also required to register as a sex offender indefinitely, a measure that underscores the severity of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community. The case has raised serious concerns about the safety of children in the Arnold area and highlights the importance of vigilance and swift action in protecting vulnerable minors from exploitation and abuse.
