A Colchester man has been convicted of ten sexual offences involving three girls after an investigation that spanned nearly eight years.
Stephen Richard Gallagher, age 58, of Normandy Avenue, appeared at Ipswich Crown Court where he was found guilty of ten charges, including three counts of raping a girl.
The police investigation was initiated in September 2016 when a young girl reported being sexually abused.
Following this, a complex investigation was launched with additional victims coming forward, leading to charges of rape, sexual assault of a child under 13, indecent assault, sexual activity with a child, and other related offences.
Gallagher was arrested in October 2016.
The offences occurred when the victims were aged between 10 and 19 years.
The trial, which lasted two weeks, concluded with Gallagher's conviction.
He is due to appear for sentencing on July 29 at Ipswich Crown Court.
The conviction was praised by detectives for the victims’ strength and patience during the lengthy and complex case.
