COLCHESTER MAN TO STAND TRIAL CHARGED WITH 17 SEX OFFENCES
A COLCHESTER man will stand trial next year accused of 17 historic sex offences including child rape, sexual assault, and child cruelty.Neil Vodrey, 49, appeared before Chelmsford Crown Court on Thursday after magistrates declined jurisdiction of the case in February.
The defendant denies one count each of rape of a child under 13, rape, and attempted rape.
He also denies two counts each of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, sexual assault of a children under 13, and child cruelty.
He faces a further eight counts of indecent assault on a male, which he also denies.
A judge told Vodrey he will stand trial before a jury in May next year.
The case is expected to last five days.
Vodrey, of Buckingham Drive, Colchester, was granted conditional bail.
