PAEDOPHILE IGNORES JUDGE AND HIDES VILE PAST FROM NEW GIRLFRIEND WITH YOUNG CHILDREN
Stephen Lewin, a 40-year-old man from Mexborough, who was previously convicted as a paedophile, has once again appeared in court after failing to disclose his vile past to a new partner who has children.
In 2019, Lewin was given a 21-month suspended sentence for attempting sexual communication with a child, inciting a child to engage in sexual activities, and creating indecent images of children.
Sheffield Crown Court was told that these convictions resulted from conversations Lewin believed were with a young girl, but which were actually with an undercover officer.
As part of his sentence, Lewin was subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and notification requirements, and was barred from unsupervised contact with children without social services approval.
Despite these restrictions, Lewin entered into a relationship with a woman with children, meeting her on a dating site.
Prosecutor Joseph Bell stated that Lewin began staying at her house almost immediately after meeting, initially when the children were away, but later in the presence of the children.
Lewin helped care for the children, including putting them to bed and settling them, leading the woman to trust him completely and leave him alone with the kids.
The woman was unaware of Lewin's criminal background and, upon discovering it, felt 'sick to her stomach', believing he had 'lied and manipulated his way' into her family.
She reported feeling vulnerable, with zero trust, and expressed regret for confiding in him.
Lewin's previous sentence was 41 months, emphasized by Judge Rachael Harrison, who noted that Lewin showed 'a complete disregard to the orders I had made.' Despite his guilty pleas for breaching the Sexual Harm Prevention Order and failing to comply with notification conditions, Lewin was sentenced to an additional prison term.
The court highlighted his ongoing risk, given his history and failure to adhere to restrictions meant to protect children.
