PAUL LEWIS FROM MEXBOROUGH SENTENCED TO TEN YEARS FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN DONCASTER AND ROSSINGTON

In a case that has shocked the local community, Paul Lewis, a 33-year-old man from Mexborough, has been sentenced to a decade behind bars for a series of disturbing offences involving children. The crimes came to light after a police investigation initiated in November 2018, when multiple young victims reported being approached by Lewis, who was working at a sweetshop in the Rossington area at the time.

According to authorities, five children, all between the ages of eight and eleven, came forward with allegations that Lewis had attempted to bribe them with sweets in exchange for exposing themselves. The reports prompted a swift response from the Doncaster police force, leading to Lewis's immediate arrest. Investigating Officer Amy Fourlis detailed the extensive efforts undertaken following his detention.

Officer Fourlis explained that after Lewis's arrest, she dedicated herself to conducting thorough interviews with the victims, gathering witness statements, and executing a search of Lewis’s residence located on Lower Dolcliffe Road in Mexborough. During the search, authorities seized electronic devices, which later revealed an indecent video stored on Lewis’s phone. During questioning, Lewis admitted to some of the allegations, which prompted investigators to identify and interview an additional child who had been victimized.

Lewis was subsequently charged with seven separate offences involving six children. The charges included three counts of inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity, one count of causing or inciting a boy under 13 to engage in sexual activity, one count of outraging public decency, possession of indecent photographs or pseudo-photographs of a child for distribution or display, and a breach of a sexual harm prevention order. These offences spanned from July to October 2018.

At a pre-trial hearing held on December 5, 2018, Lewis pleaded guilty to all charges. His guilty plea paved the way for sentencing, which took place at Sheffield Crown Court. On Wednesday, January 9, Lewis was sentenced to ten years in prison, marking a significant victory for justice and a stern warning to those who exploit children in the community.
