STEPHEN JOHNS FROM GUISTBOROUGH SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS AND POSSESSION OF EXTREME PORNOGRAPHY IN TEESSIDE

In June 2021, Stephen Johns, a 45-year-old resident of Kingfisher Drive, Guisborough, was sentenced for serious offences including the sexual assault of a teenage girl and possession of extreme pornography involving animals.

Johns committed these sexual assaults in 2019, during which he also supplied the victim with a drink of Jack Daniels and Coke after consuming around 20 bottles of lager. The assaults were described as "unfathomable" by the court, with the victim feeling "sick" after the incident.

Prosecutor Shaun Dodds explained that during one assault, Johns, already intoxicated, had given the girl a sip of alcohol and then forcefully held her to the floor, getting on top of her and making the comment, "it will be all right." After the assault, Johns apologized.

It was also revealed that Johns had previously assaulted the same girl, who was considered vulnerable, on another occasion several months earlier.

In July of the previous year, police found Johns in possession of explicit material involving animals, which was described as "sickening." When arrested, he admitted to the assaults but denied having any sexual interest in children.

The court, led by Recorder Jamie Hill QC, described Johns' crimes as "unfathomable" and noted they caused "great suffering." Johns was sentenced to six years in prison, and he will be on the sex offender register for life. Additionally, he was subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and a restraining order prohibiting contact with the victim.
