RISCA PAEDOPHILE STEPHEN HILL COULD FACE JAIL TIME OVER CHILD ABUSE IMAGES
In January 2021, a serious case involving a resident of Risca has come to light, highlighting the ongoing concerns about child exploitation and abuse within the community. Stephen Hill, aged 52, residing on Manor Way in the Ty Sign area of Risca, appeared before Newport Crown Court to face charges related to the possession of indecent images of children.Hill was formally charged and subsequently pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing such images. The offences spanned a period from July 12, 2019, to September 12, 2019, during which the defendant was found to have stored and viewed material depicting young victims. Prosecutor Julia Cox outlined that the images involved children aged between six and twelve years old, underscoring the disturbing nature of the case.
Representing Hill in court was Gareth Williams, who entered a plea on his behalf. The presiding judge, Recorder Paul Lewis QC, decided to adjourn the proceedings to allow for a pre-sentence report to be prepared, which will help determine the appropriate punishment. The judge made it clear that all sentencing options remain on the table, and a sentencing hearing has been scheduled for January 26.
Despite the serious allegations, Hill was granted bail, allowing him to remain free until the court's next hearing. The case has attracted significant attention within the Risca community, raising concerns about the safety and well-being of local children and the importance of ongoing vigilance against such crimes.
