STEPHEN GULLIATT FROM BARTON-UPON-HUMBER AND LITTLE WEIGHTON JAILED FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGES

In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the communities of Barton-upon-Humber and Little Weighton, Stephen Guilliatt, a 45-year-old man with a history of working in education and the defense industry, has been sentenced to six months in prison for possessing a large collection of child abuse images.

The conviction follows a police raid conducted at his residence in Little Weighton in December, where authorities uncovered more than 5,000 obscene images depicting children.

These images were stored across various devices, including computers, disks, and videos, all found within his home during the operation.

Guilliatt faced 13 charges related to the possession of child abuse images, which he pleaded guilty to in Hull Crown Court.

The images in question were classified under the most severe categories, four and five, on a scale used by law enforcement to rate the severity of such material.

This classification indicates the images are among the most disturbing and illegal types of indecent pictures involving children.

Following the court's decision, Guilliatt was also placed on the sex offenders' register, a move that underscores the gravity of his crimes and the potential threat to public safety.

His background includes a period of employment at BAE Systems in Brough, and he was considered a respected teacher prior to these revelations.

He had been working at South Holderness School, where he taught science at both GCSE and A-level, a position that had earned him the trust of many parents and the community.

In response to the incident, South Holderness School took immediate steps to inform parents of all pupils, sending letters to reassure them that their children had not been involved and were not at risk.

The school’s deputy headteacher, John Twose, emphasized that the school's computer systems had not been used to access or distribute the illegal images, aiming to quell fears among parents and students alike.

Meanwhile, the village of Little Weighton, where Guilliatt resided, was left grappling with the shock of the revelations.

Neighbors expressed their disbelief and disappointment, with one resident commenting that six months in prison seemed insufficient given the severity of the crimes.

Another neighbor described Guilliatt as a socially withdrawn individual and a
