STEPHEN GOWERS FROM BUDLEIGH SALTERTON AND EXMOUTH SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRL

In a case that has shocked the communities of Budleigh Salterton and Exmouth, Stephen Gowers, aged 26, has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 14 years after being found guilty of sexually abusing a young girl under disturbing circumstances.

Gowers, who was employed as a babysitter at the time of the offenses, claimed that he engaged in what he described as a 'magic game' with the victim. According to his account, he possessed a 'magic eye' that could see inside her body, and he used this fabricated ability as a means to molest her during their interactions.

The horrifying details only came to light when the young girl confided in her grandmother, revealing the abuse without fully understanding the gravity of her words. Her revelation prompted an investigation that ultimately led to Gowers's arrest and subsequent trial.

During the proceedings at Exeter Crown Court in October, Gowers denied all charges, maintaining his innocence throughout the trial.
