2005; LEIGH MAN JAILED FOR RETALIATION AND THREATS TO EX-LOVER
2005: During a court session, it was revealed that 28-year-old Stephen German, residing on Kingsley Street in Leigh, engaged in multiple violent acts against his former partner and her current boyfriend.The court heard that German ripped apart clothing belonging to Elaine Collier, unable to accept her rejection.
He also physically assaulted her and directed racial slurs at a friend of her boyfriend.
At Liverpool Crown Court, German admitted guilt to charges including two burglaries, making threats to kill, common assault, and racially aggravated abuse.
The judge, Recorder Andrew Edis, QC, handed down a sentence of two and a half years in prison, highlighting that German had inflicted significant psychological suffering on his victims and criticising him for vengeful damage to their homes.
Prosecutor Stephen Kemp described German’s tumultuous relationship with Miss Collier, noting that they had separated.
On December 4 of the previous year, German threatened her and their daughter with death.
Later that day, he forcibly entered their residence on Bedford Square in Leigh, causing approximately £1,500 in damage to their property.
