SEX OFFENDER JAILED AFTER HUMILIATING FILMED ASSAULT IN LARKHALL
A convicted sex offender, Stephen Fullarton, has been sentenced to three years in prison after he filmed and inflicted a humiliating sexual assault on a man.According to Hamilton Sheriff Court records, Fullarton, aged 36, admitted to assault and abduction charges.
The court heard that on February 3 this year, Fullarton stabbed his 39-year-old victim in the wrist with a knife at his home in Balfour Wynd, Larkhall.
The victim, who is also a convicted criminal, was made to strip and was then sexually assaulted, with the entire ordeal captured on a mobile phone and shown in court.
The victim was subsequently locked in a cupboard and remained there for several hours before managing to escape.
Fullarton’s lawyer, Alan Gravelle, described the victim as having endured a 'humiliating and distressing' experience.
Fullarton, who has prior convictions including drug dealing and carrying a blade, also has a history of violence, having once been cleared of murder in 2009 but subsequently jailed for over six years for drug-related crimes in 2010.
In January of the same year, he was attacked and suffered multiple stab wounds but was involved in another violent incident earlier this year.
The sheriff noted that the victim's ordeal was 'prolonged and very distressing' and highlighted that Fullarton’s lack of violent offending record was a mitigating factor in sentencing.
Fullarton was sentenced to three years, backdated to February 19 to account for time already served, and was placed on the sex offenders' register due to the nature of the attack.
