STEPHEN FOWLER SENTENCED IN LIVERPOOL FOR KNUTSFORD CHILD SEXUAL ASSAULT
In a case that has shocked the community, Stephen Fowler, a 54-year-old man from Liverpool, was sentenced to four years in prison for a disturbing sexual assault involving a young girl in Knutsford.The incident, which involved penetration of a child under the age of 13, took place in 2005 within a flat where Fowler was residing with his family in Knutsford.
Despite the assault occurring several years prior, it was only in 2013 that the victim, an eight-year-old girl, reported the abuse to authorities.
Her bravery in coming forward prompted a thorough investigation by police officials.
The case was brought before Chester Crown Court, where Fowler was found guilty of the serious charge of assault on a child under 13 by penetration.
On Monday, September 8, Fowler was formally sentenced to four years behind bars.
Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of ten years, reflecting the gravity of his crimes and the ongoing risk he poses to the community.
Detective Constable Tim Humpage commented on the case, emphasizing the profound impact the assault had on the victim.
He stated, “Fowler deeply affected his victim who struggled to come to terms with what had happened.
Fowler abused his trust and took advantage of her situation.” He further explained that the investigation was initiated thanks to the victim’s courage in speaking out, which allowed authorities to take action.
“This investigation was started when his victim had the courage to tell somebody about the abuse and support was given to her to help her through the process,” Humpage said.
He expressed hope that the conviction would provide some measure of closure for the young girl, adding, “As a result of this Fowler is now where he deserves to be, in prison.
I hope this conviction will in some way help to give her some form of closure.” Humpage also took the opportunity to thank the victim for her bravery and encouraged other victims of sexual abuse to come forward.
“We would encourage victims of sexual abuse to come forward so that they can get the help they need and we can bring offenders to justice,” he concluded.
Fowler’s case highlights the importance of community vigilance and the courage of victims in seeking justice, especially in cases involving vulnerable children.
