SHOCKING CRIME: STEPHEN DEVILLE FROM UXBRIDGE CONVICTED OF CHILD RAPE IN SLOUGH
In a case that has sent shockwaves through the local community, Stephen Deville, a 37-year-old man from Uxbridge, has been found guilty of heinous crimes involving the sexual assault of a young girl in Slough. The conviction was announced following a comprehensive five-day trial held at Reading Crown Court, where the jury deliberated on the evidence presented against him.Deville faced multiple serious charges, including three counts of raping a child under the age of 13 and two counts of sexual assault against the same young victim. The offences reportedly occurred between March and April of 2015, during which the victim was a minor. The charges stem from incidents that took place in Slough, a town known for its diverse community and proximity to London, and involved a single female victim.
He was formally charged on September 6, with the allegations relating to these disturbing acts. The court proceedings revealed the gravity of the crimes, which have deeply affected the victim and her family. Detective Constable Alethea Cox, who is part of the Child Abuse Investigation Unit based in Windsor, commented on the case, saying, “It has been an incredibly difficult and troubling time for both the victim of this horrific crime, and her family.”
She further emphasized the importance of the young witness protocol, which facilitated the swift handling of the case, allowing justice to be served more efficiently. “Young witness protocol luckily meant the case was dealt with expeditiously and it has been a massive relief to finally have obtained some justice for them,” she added.
Currently, Stephen Deville remains in custody as he awaits sentencing, which is scheduled to take place at Reading Crown Court on January 19. The case has highlighted the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to protect vulnerable children and bring perpetrators of such crimes to justice, especially in communities like Uxbridge and Slough where these incidents have occurred.
