PETER GREEN FROM UXBRIDGE SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST CALDERDALE GIRLS

In a case that has shocked the local community, a man named Peter Green, formerly residing in Calderdale but now living in Uxbridge, has been handed a lengthy prison sentence after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offences. The sentencing took place at Bradford Crown Court, where Judge Colin Burn commended the remarkable bravery of a young victim whose decision to come forward played a crucial role in bringing Green to justice.

Judge Burn expressed high praise for the complainant, a young girl whose identity remains protected for legal reasons. He acknowledged her courage in reporting the abuse, which ultimately led to Green’s conviction. The court heard that Green, aged 23 at the time of sentencing, was found guilty of a series of heinous crimes, including rape, attempted rape, and sexual assault, committed against her and two other girls from Calderdale.

The trial, which lasted six days, revealed disturbing details about Green’s offending history. It was established that his abusive behavior began when he was approximately 13 years old, with evidence suggesting that his first victim may have been as young as five years old. The court was told that what may have initially started as “sexual experimentation” with the youngest girl gradually escalated into sustained abuse involving two additional victims. The offences continued until Green was approximately 21 or 22 years old.

Prosecutor Stephen Wood presented victim impact statements during the hearing, describing the long-lasting effects of Green’s actions on the victims. One girl shared how her life had been profoundly affected, stating that she had rarely experienced happiness since the abuse was revealed. She recounted feeling targeted and not believed during the trial, and revealed that Green had threatened her, warning that “bad things” would happen if she told anyone about the abuse.

Another victim expressed her anger and desire for justice, stating, “I hate Peter and I hope he gets a long sentence and I get justice for what happened.” She described the emotional toll of giving evidence, feeling as though she was not believed and being unfairly portrayed as a liar. She expressed her disgust at Green for taking advantage of her innocence.

The third complainant, who had kept her abuse a secret for a long time, broke down emotionally when police officers approached her. She described how difficult it was to testify and how she felt she was not believed during the proceedings.

Throughout the sentencing, Green showed no visible emotion as Judge Burn announced his punishment. Green was sentenced to a total of 14 years in prison, with an extended license period of one year. The court also informed him that he could apply for parole after serving half of his sentence, but the Parole Board would need to be satisfied that he no longer posed a risk to the public.

In addition to his prison sentence, Green was ordered to register as a sex offender with the police for the remainder of his life. A sexual harm prevention order was also imposed, which will remain in effect for the next 30 years, ensuring ongoing restrictions and monitoring to protect the community from further harm.
