2008: PAEDOPHILE JAILED FOR ATTACKS ON TWO YOUNG BOYS
A man convicted of child sexual offences and imprisoned in the past has been returned to jail after admitting to new crimes involving minors.Stephen Cleary was only apprehended after he contacted police and confessed to abusing two children.
Following this, he faced multiple charges related to child sex offences.
Bolton Crown Court sentenced Cleary to six years imprisonment on the previous day.
It was revealed that 20 years earlier, when he was 48, Cleary from Weston Street, Great Lever, had been convicted of luring a 12-year-old into a public toilet and sexually assaulting him.
Prosecutor Lisa Bakker stated that the recent allegations surfaced in May when Cleary called police, confessing to abusing an 11-year-old boy in 2005 and 2006.
Police interviews, however, were inconclusive as Cleary and the child refused to cooperate, preventing prosecution.
Earlier this year, Cleary also admitted to sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy who had gone missing from home.
He confessed to sleeping with the boy in his bed.
Cleary pleaded guilty to four counts related to sexual activity with a minor, including additional charges of sexual activity with a child and sexual assault.
The judge, Knopf, sentenced him to a further six years behind bars, with a four-year supervised license after his release.
He was also ordered to stay off any work involving children and was registered for life as a sex offender.
