CRAWLEY CLEANER STEEVE FRIVOLE SENTENCED FOR VOYEURISM AT THOMAS BENNETT SCHOOL
In a serious case of voyeurism that has shocked the local community, Steeve Frivolle, a 51-year-old man residing on Pound Hill Parade in Crawley, has been handed an 18-month prison sentence by Lewes Crown Court. The conviction stems from a series of covert recordings he made at the Thomas Bennett Community School, where he was employed as a cleaner.
Frivolle had previously admitted to 18 charges of voyeurism, which spanned a period from July 2014 to May 2017.
The court heard that his offending involved secretly installing recording devices in the school’s facilities, specifically targeting adult female staff members.
These devices were discreetly placed, with one notably secured into the back of a toilet seat, which was eventually discovered by a vigilant staff member.
The discovery prompted a police investigation that uncovered additional recording equipment at Frivolle’s residence.
As part of his sentencing, Frivolle will be registered as a sex offender for the next ten years.
Furthermore, he was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), which restricts him from entering any toilet facilities other than those designated for males.
The order also mandates that police be allowed to install monitoring software on his electronic devices to oversee his online activity and prevent further offences.
The investigation clarified that Frivolle’s voyeuristic acts were directed solely at adult women, with no evidence suggesting any contact-based offences or victims among children.
Additionally, the parents or guardians of pupils at Thomas Bennett Community School were not involved or targeted in any way.
The case has raised concerns about security and safeguarding within the school environment, prompting calls for increased vigilance and preventative measures to protect staff and students alike.
