STACEY LOCKHURST AND PAUL BRUNSDEN CRUELTY IN THAMESMEAD AND ERITH

Stacey Louise Lockhurst, born on December 14, 1984, residing at 218 Elmley Street, Plumstead, London SE18 7NL, has been linked to a disturbing case of animal cruelty that took place in the Thamesmead and Erith areas. She shares a history of strong connections to these locations, as well as Dartford. Alongside her, Paul James Brunsden, born on June 9, 1987, of Fieldfare Road, Thamesmead, London SE28 8HR, was also involved in the heinous neglect of a dog. Brunsden's ties extend to Hornchurch and Erith, further highlighting the widespread nature of this case.

According to reports, Lockhurst and Brunsden kept a German shepherd dog named Jack in deplorable conditions at Lockhurst’s former residence on Forest Road, Erith. The dog was confined within a cramped, filthy cage that was described as a scene of neglect and suffering. Jack was found to have starved to death, left in a crate filled with his own waste, which included feces and maggots. The environment was so appalling that the cage was teeming with flies and maggots, and littered with plastic bags and a takeaway food carton, indicating a complete disregard for the animal’s welfare.

When RSPCA inspectors arrived to investigate, they discovered Jack in a state of extreme emaciation. The inspector recounted that she could feel the dog’s spine through his thin body, describing him as “the thinnest dog she had ever seen.” The dog’s water bowl was contaminated with excrement, and his mouth was also filled with waste, further emphasizing the neglect and suffering he endured. The inspector carefully lifted Jack from his confinement, revealing the tragic extent of his starvation.

In addition to Jack, the inspectors seized a cat and two kittens from the same premises. The conditions in which these animals were kept were deemed “likely to cause suffering,” raising serious concerns about ongoing cruelty and neglect. RSPCA Inspector Alison Fletcher expressed her deep sorrow over the case, stating, “It is heartbreaking that this poor dog lived and then died in the squalor of this cage, hungry, thirsty and alone. This kind of cruelty is simply horrendous and anyone looking at the photo of this dog can see the suffering.”

Legal proceedings resulted in Lockhurst receiving a 20-week prison sentence, which was suspended for a year, along with a lifetime ban from keeping animals. Brunsden was sentenced to 20 weeks in jail and was also banned for life from owning any animals, reflecting the severity of their actions.

In a related incident reported by the News Shopper on January 31, 2017, the body of an emaciated dog was discovered dumped in a bin bag in Charlton, South-East London. The dog, a male brindle-and-white Staffordshire Bull Terrier estimated to be about a year old, was found by a dog walker in the vicinity of Fairlawn Garages on Cherry Orchard Estate. This estate is located less than three miles from Elmley Street, Plumstead, where Lockhurst has been known to reside since late 2016, with her address remaining current as of March 2020.

In February 2017, an animal welfare group reported that a man claimed the dog had belonged to Lockhurst and that she had been seen dumping the animal’s body. Despite passing this information to the RSPCA, no prosecution has been made in connection with the dog’s death. The case continues to highlight concerns over animal cruelty linked to Lockhurst’s name and the broader issues of neglect in the Thamesmead and Erith communities.
