WOMAN CONVICTED FOR STALKING EX AND NEARLY RUNNING HIM OVER AFTER LYING ABOUT PREGNANCY
A woman named Sophie Clifford, aged 31, has been convicted of stalking and harassment after a series of aggressive actions against her ex-partner.
Court proceedings revealed she had been in an on-and-off relationship with the victim, ignoring warnings and continuing to send messages, visit his home, and leave a bracelet on his car despite explicit warnings to cease contact.
On January 27, she followed him to the gym and then deliberately swerved her vehicle into him while he was walking with a friend, narrowly missing both of them.
The victim expressed feeling "physically unsafe" and worried that she might cause harm to others.
Clifford admitted to lying about her pregnancy to garner his attention.
She pleaded guilty in June and was sentenced in Swindon Magistrates Court to a 12-month community order, including 15 rehabilitation activity days, a fine of £292, plus £85 court costs and £114 victim service funding, as part of her punishment.
Her actions caused fear and distress, and she remains under Court supervision for her conduct.
