SIMON TOWNSEND FROM MELTHAM SENTENCED FOR ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRLS IN SHOCKING CRIMES

A man identified as Simon Karl Townsend, a former Scout leader from Meltham, has been handed an additional two-year prison sentence after being convicted of abusing young girls.

Townsend was already serving a three-year sentence for the abuse of a schoolgirl, but the case took a new turn when a second victim came forward earlier this year, revealing disturbing details of Townsend’s misconduct that dated back to a period before his initial sentencing.

During the court proceedings, prosecutors outlined a series of troubling behaviors exhibited by Townsend, including engaging in sexual conversations with the victims, inappropriate physical contact, and the exchange of indecent images.

These revelations painted a disturbing picture of a man who exploited his position of trust and authority over vulnerable young girls.

Judge Peter Collier QC presided over the case and sentenced Townsend, who is now 33 years old, to an additional two years in prison, to be served consecutively with his existing sentence.
