DANIEL BROWN FROM MELTHAM JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT ON CHILD IN HUDDERSFIELD
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community, Daniel Brown, a 31-year-old man from Meltham, has been sentenced to prison after committing a series of sexual offenses involving a young girl. The incident came to light in August 2018, when Brown's inappropriate actions were uncovered, leading to a court hearing at Leeds Crown Court.According to court proceedings, Brown had purchased a pink vibrator from an Ann Summers store located in Huddersfield the previous year. The device was later used in an abusive manner on a young girl, with Brown engaging in sexual assault while the girl was still clothed. The abuse reportedly began in the living room of a residence before escalating to the upstairs bedroom, where the assaults continued.
The case was brought to public attention when the girl’s mother discovered the vibrator and questioned her about its origin. During her interview, the young girl disclosed that Brown had instructed her not to tell her mother about the device. She further revealed that Brown had used the vibrator on her stomach and thighs, which constituted sexual assault.
Brown pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault involving a child under the age of 13. Although he was initially charged with four additional counts of similar offenses, the Crown Prosecution Service decided not to proceed with these charges, citing that pursuing them was not in the public interest.
The court heard that the victim now struggles with trust issues, particularly towards males, including her teachers. She also expressed fear about walking home from school after hearing that Brown had been released from custody. These emotional and psychological impacts highlight the lasting damage caused by his actions.
Recorder Richard Woolfall sentenced Daniel Brown to twelve and a half years in prison. Additionally, he imposed a sexual harm prevention order to restrict Brown’s contact and activities, aiming to protect the community and prevent further offenses. The case underscores the importance of vigilance and swift legal action in protecting vulnerable children from sexual abuse.
