SIMON BOWERS FROM TELFORD FAILS IN APPEAL OVER 13-YEAR SENTENCE FOR CHILD RAPE IN SHROPSHIRE
In a case that has shocked the local community of Telford and the wider Shropshire region, Simon Bowers, a 38-year-old man from Boulton Grange in Telford, was convicted of heinous crimes involving the sexual assault of a six-year-old girl.The incident, which has left the young victim with enduring psychological trauma, led to a significant legal battle over the severity of his sentence.
On April 11 of the previous year, Bowers was found guilty at Shrewsbury Crown Court of both rape and indecency with a child.

Following his conviction, Bowers was sentenced at Stafford Crown Court on June 30 to serve a total of 13 years in prison, a sentence that many in the community and advocacy groups considered appropriate given the nature of the crimes.

Despite his plea, the appeal was firmly rejected.
Mr Justice Plender, delivering the court’s judgment, dismissed Bowers’ appeal outright, reaffirming the original sentence and emphasizing the seriousness of his crimes.
