STALKER BANNED FROM BOOTS AND SHREWSBURY TOWN CENTRE FOR HARASSING WOMEN
A pensioner has been prohibited from entering Boots after being convicted of stalking two women.Mario Presbury, aged 67, habitually visited the Boots store in Shrewsbury and targeted the women with unwanted attention, including following them out of the store on multiple occasions.
His harassment spanned over three years, from 2018 to 2021.
During these visits, Presbury would approach the women aggressively and use abusive language.
On several instances, he followed one woman to her car park and another to her bus stop, despite the women not knowing him.
West Mercia Police arrested Presbury and charged him with two counts of stalking.
He was found guilty at Telford Magistrates’ Court on July 8.
On August 17, during sentencing, Presbury, of Cambrian Way, Telford, was fined and placed under a five-year Stalking Protection Order.
The order restricts him from entering Shrewsbury town centre unless accessing the railway station, or from entering or lingering around Boots, as well as from contacting or approaching the women or anyone connected to them.
Following the hearing, Pc Rich Walters stated: “It is totally unacceptable for any woman to be subjected to unwanted attention and I hope this sentence sends a strong message that we will take action against anyone who engages in this type of behaviour.
We urge anyone with any concerns to please get in touch and you will be given our full support.”
