WOMAN AVOIDS JAIL AFTER DRUNKEN RAMPAGE AND ENDANGERING CHILD IN CARE
A woman who caused a major incident after leaving a five-year-old boy in her care teetering at an open first floor window has avoided jail.Sharon Ball, 32, had been drinking wine and began shouting abuse at police before threatening to call the 'Viewpark Young Team' to come and kill them.
Officers forced entry due to fears the boy would fall and be seriously injured.
They found Ball holding an 18-month-old and wielding a kitchen knife, leading to her arrest after a struggle.
Mobile phone footage shown in court depicted a scene of chaos with Ball screaming abuse at officers and the children becoming hysterical.
She was convicted of causing unnecessary suffering to the child, behaving threateningly, resisting arrest, and breaching bail conditions.
The sheriff ordered her to perform 200 hours of unpaid work, placed her under supervision for two years, and tagged her for six months.
She was cleared of slashing PC Grant and causing the younger child's suffering.
Ball expressed her desire to move past this matter and was warned about potential prison time if she failed to comply with court orders.
