SEX OFFENDER PLOTTED TO LIVE STREAM ABUSE OF YOUNG GIRL
A sex offender involved in plotting to livestream the abuse of a young girl could face the possibility of serving a life sentence.Andrew Allan was online in late March of this year, communicating with a man he believed was named Tony.
However, the individual he was talking to was actually an undercover police officer.
During a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow, it was revealed that Allan initially made contact with Tony through Telegram and was later shown a photograph of a young girl supposedly known to Tony.
Allan, who has prior convictions for child sex offences, made inappropriate comments and was subsequently offered a livestream showing the girl being exploited.
When police searched Allan’s house in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, they found him leaving the kitchen naked from the waist down.
Although he initially denied having multiple electronic devices, authorities discovered additional items, including a mobile phone.
Allan confessed to having communicated with Tony via Telegram, which he had initially denied.
Authorities also found over 200 indecent images and videos on his devices.
He pleaded guilty to charges including attempted conspiracy, possessing indecent images, and breaching a sex offence order by not informing police of a new mobile phone.
The Crown requested a comprehensive risk assessment that could result in an Order for Lifelong Restriction.
Lord Colbeck postponed sentencing until the following month; Allan remains in custody.
