SHAREEM NAZISH FROM BEWSEY JAILED FOR CHILD ABUSE IMAGE DISTRIBUTION IN LIVERPOOL

In July 2021, a disturbing case unfolded involving Shaleem Nazish, a resident of Bewsey, who was convicted of distributing a large collection of child abuse images online. The incident came to light after police investigations revealed that Nazish was actively sharing and possessing an extensive stash of illicit material, despite being under a prior investigation and legal restrictions.

Authorities initially responded to reports concerning Nazish’s activities at his home on Allen Street in Bewsey. On March 28, 2019, officers arrived at his residence following credible information that suggested illegal activity. During the police visit, they found Nazish in his bedroom attempting to delete data from his iPhone. The device was forcibly taken from him, and subsequent forensic analysis uncovered a significant amount of illegal content, including child abuse images and videos. Further examination of his electronic devices, including an Apple MacBook and a second iPhone, revealed additional illicit material.

At the time of his arrest, Nazish was found to be in possession of over 6,000 child abuse images and videos, with a total of 570 videos involving boys aged between six months and 12 years. Among these, 936 images were classified as Category A, indicating the most severe form of abuse, including child rape. Police also discovered 28 prohibited videos involving children aged between four and 12 years old. The forensic investigation further revealed that Nazish had distributed at least 186 images and videos, including 11 Category A files, during the period between his initial police interviews.

Prior to these events, Nazish had a history of offenses related to child exploitation. In 2016, he was previously convicted for making indecent images of children (IIOC) and was given a suspended sentence along with an indefinite sexual harm prevention order. This order explicitly required him to make all electronic devices available for police inspection and prohibited him from deleting internet history. Despite these restrictions, Nazish violated the order by deleting social media applications and continuing to access and distribute illegal content.

Further investigations uncovered that between April 30 and June 1, 2020, Nazish was involved in a group chat where child abuse images were shared and exchanged. Police intercepted communications where he discussed the abuse of children and suggested moving to more secure platforms for sharing illicit material. During this period, he maintained access to illegal images, and his devices confirmed ongoing possession and distribution of child abuse content.

On June 18, 2020, police officers returned to his residence and arrested him once again. During the subsequent police interview, Nazish admitted to viewing IIOC and expressed a sexual interest in boys aged between eight and 12. He also disclosed that he had stored additional images in a cloud-based folder. His actions and continued access to illegal material demonstrated a clear breach of his previous court orders.

In total, the forensic analysis of Nazish’s devices revealed that he possessed 6,471 illegal images and videos. The content involved children as young as six months and up to 12 years old, with a significant portion being of the most severe category. The investigation also found that he had distributed these images, further violating his legal restrictions.

As a result of his actions, Nazish was charged with multiple offenses, including breaching his sexual harm prevention order, possessing and making indecent images of children, and distributing such images. He pleaded guilty to all charges in court. The judge sentenced him to two years and six months in prison. Additionally, he was ordered to be subject to a new indefinite sexual harm prevention order and was required to register as a sex offender. This case highlights the ongoing dangers posed by individuals who violate court orders designed to protect children from exploitation and abuse.
