SCOTT WIGG FROM CLACTON-ON-SEA SENTENCED FOR MULTIPLE SEX OFFENCES INVOLVING CHILDREN
In a case that has shocked the community of Clacton-on-Sea, Essex, Scott Wigg, a 32-year-old man with a disturbing history, has been convicted and sentenced to a lengthy prison term for a series of heinous sexual offences involving minors.Victims, whose identities remain protected, came forward to law enforcement authorities in October of the previous year, prompting a swift response from Essex Police.
Following their reports, Wigg was arrested and subsequently appeared before Chelmsford Crown Court in November, where he admitted to a total of ten serious sexual offences.
The charges Wigg pleaded guilty to include three counts of raping a child under the age of 13, one count of sexual assault of a child under 13, and inciting or causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.
Additionally, he admitted to sexually assaulting a child under 13, causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent, and sexual assault by penetration.
These offences were linked to multiple victims, highlighting a pattern of predatory behavior.
It is noteworthy that Wigg denied an additional charge of raping a child under 13, which prosecutors decided to drop.
Evidence revealed that Wigg had sexually abused one victim while she was asleep, filming the assault so he could later watch the footage for his own gratification.
The abuse spanned over a period of four years, indicating a prolonged and calculated pattern of exploitation.
The court also considered Wigg’s criminal history, which included a previous conviction for sexual abuse of a boy in 2005.
This history underscored the ongoing danger he posed to the public.
Judge Christopher Morgan described Wigg’s conduct as “depraved” and emphasized the severe emotional and psychological harm inflicted upon his victims.
The judge labeled Wigg a dangerous offender and ordered an extended sentence, citing the significant risk he posed to the community.
In his sentencing remarks, Judge Morgan stated, “There is a significant risk to members of the public of serious harm, both physical and psychological, that could be occasioned by the commission by you of further specified offences of a sexual nature.” As a result, Wigg was sentenced to 21 years in prison, with 15 years to be served behind bars and an additional six years on licence.
Furthermore, he has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities and restrictions to protect the community from further harm.
