MAN WHO STABBED HIS MUM TO DEATH AT HOME IS JAILED
A man who murdered his mother at the seaside home she once lived in has been jailed for life.Rachel Dixon, 49, was stabbed to death by Oliver Grange on 21 March in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex.
Det Ch Insp Greg Wood, who led the police investigation, said she was subjected to a "truly horrific and violent attack" at the hands of her son.
During sentencing at Chelmsford Crown Court, 24-year-old Grange was told he must serve a minimum of 15 years before he could be considered for release.
The murderer never revealed a motive for his attack and refused to answer detectives' questions, Essex Police said.
The police found Ms Dixon fatally injured when they arrived at the home in Skelmersdale Road.
They arrested Grange, who locked the front door after gaining entry into the garden.
He pleaded guilty to murder on 26 June and was sentenced on Friday.
In a statement issued after Grange was jailed, his family said Ms Dixon was a "beautiful daughter, sister, mother and auntie".
She would be "greatly missed by all" and "was taken away from us far too soon", they added.
Det Ch Insp Wood said it remained an "incredibly difficult time" for all who knew Ms Dixon, praising the officers who attended the scene and tried to save her.
