CLACTON MAN JAILED FOR VILE ONLINE CHILD ABUSE IMAGES AND CHATS
A man caught with dozens of indecent images of children and who made derogatory comments about women has been jailed.Liam Ryan, 27, was sent to prison for more than two years after admitting to several sexual offences.
Chelmsford Crown Court heard Ryan, of Clacton, was found to be in possession of images across all categories, including Category A, the most serious.
He also had prohibited images and extreme pornography on his phone.
An investigation began in February last year when Essex Police received intelligence that Ryan had online accounts linked to the sending and receiving of indecent images.
A search was carried out at his home in March, and his phone was seized by officers.
Police found 29 images graded category A, the most serious, 19 category B files and 80 that fell into category C.
They also identified nine prohibited images and six files of extreme porn.
Prosecutor Daniel Setter said officers recovered a number of chat conversations that Ryan had with other users on the internet.
Mr Setter added: “A taste of these conversations included him expressing that his preferred age was children between four and 15 and that the younger the better, ideally.” Officers further discovered that he had taken pictures of a woman “in various states” and shared these online.
Mr Setter added: "He referred to her in derogatory terms with other users on the internet." Ryan made “full and frank” admissions about the activity when he was arrested by police.
He entered guilty pleas to all eight offences against him.
Sania Nissar, defence, said: “Liam Ryan recognises he needs support.
He has sought out organisations.
He has taken responsibility and set the foundations needed to tackle and overcome his offending behaviour.” They added: “Liam is of good character.
His remorse has been demonstrated consistently.
It’s not just the words he says but the ownership of the offending and his actions so far.” Circuit Judge Richard Wilkin at Chelmsford Crown Court said Ryan had engaged in “vile conversations”.
He sentenced Ryan to 28 months imprisonment, of which up to half will be served in custody before he is released on licence.
He was also given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order to run for 10 years and put on the Sex Offenders’ Register for 10 years.
