SCOTT BOYLING FROM BASILDON JAILED FOR 12 FOR CHILD SEX OFFENCES
A PAEDOPHILE, who “deprived” a child of discovering her own sexuality, has been jailed for 12 years.Scott Boyling, 49, was found guilty of eight counts of sexual activity with a child following a trial.
He was sentenced at Basildon Crown Court yesterday where the court heard Boyling, of King Edward Road, Basildon, he was in “complete denial.” Prosecuting Peter Clark said: "The abuse affected her building relationships as a healthy teenager should do.
Her innocent trust was cruelly betrayed purely for his own sexual gratification.
He continues to be in complete denial.” The victims personal impact statement read to the court said: “I was never confident and he made out he was building this up but it was for his own benefit.
I have intimacy issues and do not like physical touching with my family or boyfriend.
I don’t know how long it will be until I feel comfortable again and it’s also affected my career too.” Sentencing Judge Samantha Cohen said: “You twisted her attitude towards sexual relationships and deprived her of discovering her own sexuality.” Following the sentencing The victim, who will remain anonymous, said: “I remember the fears I would have about not being believed.
I would be thinking ‘What if the police don’t believe me, what if my family don’t believe me, and then even if they do and this goes to court, what if the jury didn’t believe me?’ “When the case did progress and was moving forward, I was constantly thinking ‘This is too good to be true,’ and I was always thinking that everything would just fall apart.
“One thing that I really want to get across to anyone who may have experienced similar things I did, is that you will be believed.” During the sentencing, prosecutor Peter Clark said: “Her innocent trust was cruelly betrayed purely for his own sexual gratification.
He continues to be in complete denial.” Following Boyling being jailed, Det Con Adam Clarke said: “Boyling manipulated his victim into thinking he wasn’t doing anything wrong and that his crimes against her were the norm.
“This victim has bravely proactively shared her experiences to help other survivors of sexual abuse.
“We appreciate that coming to speak to the police isn’t easy, but we are always here.”
