BASILDON PAEDOPHILE KIERAN MILLER JAILED FOR TIKTOK MESSAGES
A paedophile from south Essex has been imprisoned after being caught using social media under eight different pseudonyms to communicate with a 14-year-old girl.Kieran Miller, aged 23 and from Mynchens, Basildon, contacted the girl on TikTok, claiming he was 15 years old, and exchanged flirtatious messages with her.
Miller, who had prior convictions for child abduction and distributing child sexual abuse images, was caught when police unexpectedly arrived at one of his probation meetings and examined his phone.
He was sentenced at Basildon Crown Court on Thursday (June 18), after the probation service described him as “unmanageable in the community” and posing “a significant risk of sexual harm to children.” Wearing a black and gold UB40 T-shirt, Miller burst into tears in the courtroom while reading a letter in which he claimed to have recognised his mistakes and expressed a desire to change.
Nonetheless, Judge Siew Loke remarked that although she believed his remorse was genuine, only a custodial sentence was appropriate.
Miller’s criminal history includes a conviction for child abduction in 2020.
In 2025, he returned to court after police investigated an Instagram account sharing indecent images of children.
Detectives traced the account to him and found 92 illegal images and videos of abuse on his device.
He had shared these images not only on Instagram but also via Telegram, and had sent them to others across various platforms.
He received a sentence of 20 months' imprisonment, suspended for 24 months, along with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) restricting his communication with minors and requiring him to surrender his phone for random checks by Essex Police.
On April 17, 2026, during a probation appointment, police asked to see his phone.
“The defendant appeared very uneasy, claiming he felt unwell and wanted to visit the restroom,” explained prosecutor Pamela Muniya.
“However, he eventually handed over his phone.
It was identified that he breached his SHPO by communicating on TikTok with a user between April 13 and 15.
The user had told him she was 14 and was about to turn 15.
During the conversation, the defendant presented himself as a 15-year-old boy and engaged in flirtatious exchanges.
It was discovered that he used eight online aliases and active social media accounts, all controlled and used by him.” Miller admitted to breaching his SHPO, failing to comply with sex offender notification requirements, and his new offences effectively breached his suspended sentence.
Defense lawyer Tamera Sher stated, “He acknowledges he struggles with communicating with children online.
He is aware of the problem but feels he has tried and cannot control himself at the moment.” The court was also informed that Miller has learning difficulties and a history of mental health issues.
In a tearful letter read aloud from the dock, he said, “I have reflected on my actions and behaviour.
Being remanded in custody has been terrible.” He added, “I take full responsibility for what I’ve done.
I genuinely want to change and become a better person.” Judge Siew Loke responded, “I understand that reading that statement in open court wasn’t easy for you, and I note your desire for help.” However, she emphasized that the probation warnings were “very serious,” and that sentencing guidelines required her to activate his suspended sentence unless it would be unjust.
Ultimately, she sentenced him to 18 months for the current offences, with an additional ten months consecutive for the previous suspended sentence, totaling two years and four months.
He will become eligible for release on licence after serving 14 months.
