SCOTT BAMFORD SENTENCED TO THREE YEARS IN PRISON FOR GROOMING CHILDREN IN CAMBERLEY
Scott Bamford, a 54-year-old from Walsall, has been sentenced to three years in prison after he was convicted of grooming three young children online and attempting to meet them in Camberley for sexual activity. The court hearing took place last Thursday, February 17, at Guildford Crown Court, where Bamford pleaded guilty to three counts of arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sexual offence.
Surrey Police revealed that Bamford engaged in sexually graphic conversations on an online chat platform and had made arrangements to meet three children one just two years old and two under the age of 11 in Camberley earlier this year.
On the day of his intended meeting, Bamford arrived at a town car park and was promptly arrested.
Authorities found children's toys suitable for different ages, sweets, condoms, and lubricant in the trunk of his vehicle.
The arrest resulted from an investigation led by specialists from the South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU).
Bamford was charged immediately, and officials confirmed that none of the victims were put at actual risk.
In addition to his prison term, Bamford was subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and ordered to register as a sex offender indefinitely.
Detective Constable Colin Haynes of SEROCU commented, “Bamford had planned to carry out child sexual abuse and travelled with the intention of offending against three children.” He added, “This case underscores our ongoing commitment to safeguarding children from sexual exploitation by those who seek to harm them.
If anyone has experienced child sexual abuse, I strongly encourage them to report it to their local police by calling 101.
We will diligently follow up on all allegations, regardless of when they occurred.
Victims can speak confidentially with experienced investigators, and support services are available to assist them.”
