CONVICTED SIBLINGS SASHA JACKSON AND AIDEN SHERWOOD OF GORLESTON FOR STARVING PUPPY TO DEATH IN NORFOLK
Sasha Jackson, also known as Sasha Littlewood or Sasha Howe, born on December 10, 2001, of Dock Tavern Lane, Gorleston, and Aiden John Charles Sherwood, born on July 31, 2002, of St Hugh’s Green, Gorleston, Norfolk, have been convicted of neglecting a puppy, leading to its death.
The puppy, named Biggie, was described by RSPCA inspector Ben Kirby as "one of the thinnest dogs I’ve ever seen." Inspector Kirby responded to a property in Dock Tavern Road on November 28, 2023, following a police forced entry, where he discovered the nine-month-old puppy dead inside.
In his witness statement, Inspector Kirby recounted, “I could see small dog excrement littered all over the floors amongst piles of rubbish, children’s toys, and personal effects.
Lying on the floor between one sofa and the table was the emaciated body of a Cane Corso puppy.
He was lying as though he’d fallen asleep, on his front with his head resting on the floor between his front paws.” Further inspection revealed no food or water sources in the home, only empty bowls and torn packaging.
The veterinary report confirmed that Biggie "would have experienced fear and distress as he slowly starved to death," noting he had been left alone in the home for a long period, suffering from "pangs of hunger and thirst.” Regarding sentencing, Jackson received a 15-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months and mental health treatment, while Sherwood was sentenced to 20 weeks in prison, also suspended for 12 months, plus 250 hours of unpaid work.
Both were ordered to pay a £154 victim surcharge and were disqualified from keeping all animals indefinitely.
This case was reported by BBC News and the Daily Mail.
