Samuel Thomas, a 36-year-old man from Crest Drive in Fenstanton, Cambridgeshire, has received a custodial sentence for violently attacking his partner.
Law enforcement officials characterized him as 'a danger to women.' Authorities stated that Thomas threatened his partner by saying he would 'put her to sleep,' and he physically assaulted her on two occasions.
During these assaults, he strangled her twice and forcefully struck her head against a wall.
The incident came to light after police responded to his home in November following reports of an attack.
At Cambridge Crown Court, Thomas admitted to two counts of intentional strangulation and two counts of actual bodily harm, leading to a prison sentence of two years and three months.
Police reported that after the first strangulation incident on November 3rd, Thomas shook and slapped his partner.
Five days later, she escaped to a neighbor's for assistance after experiencing another assault.
Despite her injuries, which included a handprint, Thomas denied any altercation and claimed that no incident had taken place.
The victim recounted that earlier that day, he had slammed her head against a wall four times, strangled her until she lost consciousness, and had even tried to gouge out her eyeballs.
When she attempted to leave, he prevented her from taking their baby.
Detective Constable Ewa Byrne commended her bravery in coming forward and reiterated that Thomas' violent conduct demonstrates he is 'a danger to women.' A five-year restraining order was also issued against him.
These police and court actions underscore the severity of domestic abuse and the importance of addressing such cases.
