ADRIAN LIVERMORE FROM FENSTANTON JAILED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES IN CAMBRIDGESHIRE

In September 2021, a disturbing case of child sexual abuse came to light involving Adrian Livermore, a 55-year-old man from Leechcroft, Fenstanton, Cambridgeshire. Livermore was convicted and subsequently sentenced to prison after a teenage girl bravely came forward to report his inappropriate and illegal conduct.

According to police reports, Livermore engaged in a series of grooming and sexual assault activities against the young girl, with incidents occurring over a span of several months in 2018. The abuse included five separate instances of sexual touching in South Cambridgeshire during March and April of that year. The victim, who was between 13 and 15 years old at the time, confided that Livermore had sent her numerous text messages, some of which explicitly asked if he could perform a sex act on her. He also requested a photograph of her in her underwear, further demonstrating his predatory behavior.

Authorities revealed that Livermore’s inappropriate conduct extended beyond mere messaging. On at least one occasion, he asked the girl for a kiss, which she declined. During police interviews, Livermore admitted that he knew his actions were wrong but claimed, “I just can’t help it,” indicating a troubling acknowledgment of his misconduct. The sexual offences only came to light after someone close to the girl discovered the messages, prompting her to disclose her experiences to the police. The girl expressed feelings of fear and discomfort, revealing that she felt frightened of what Livermore might do next. She also admitted that she had not told anyone about the grooming earlier because she was scared of him.

During police interviews, Livermore provided a prepared statement denying any sexual contact or assault. He refused to answer questions, replying with “no comment” to all inquiries. Despite his denials, the court found sufficient evidence to convict him. On August 13, 2021, Livermore pleaded guilty to five counts of engaging in sexual activity with a girl aged 13-15 and one count of inciting or causing a girl of that age to engage in sexual activity.

His sentencing took place at Cambridge Crown Court on September 23, 2021. Livermore was sentenced to a prison term of one year and six months. Additionally, he was subjected to a 10-year restraining order that prohibits him from making any contact with the victim. To ensure ongoing monitoring of his behavior, a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) was also imposed for the same period, restricting his future conduct and interactions.

Cambridgeshire Constabulary issued a statement emphasizing the importance of victims coming forward and praised the bravery of the young girl who reported the abuse. The case highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat child sexual exploitation and protect vulnerable individuals from predators like Livermore.
