In May 2025, Sam Craig, a man from Dunfermline, was released from prison after serving time related to disturbing behavior involving minors. The incident that led to his arrest took place at the Kingsgate Shopping Centre in Dunfermline, where Craig was observed engaging in highly inappropriate activities.According to court reports, Craig was seen following several children around the shopping centre, specifically targeting young teenagers. He was taking videos of them from the waist down, an act that raised immediate concerns among the victims and witnesses. One of the teenagers noticed a flashlight on Craig’s phone, which appeared to be used for filming, and felt uneasy about his presence and actions. She and her friends became increasingly uncomfortable as Craig continued to follow them, raising alarm among those nearby.
Fortunately, the young girl managed to find a security guard within the Kingsgate Shopping Centre. Recognizing the potential danger, the security personnel quickly responded and contacted the police. Law enforcement officers arrived promptly and arrested Craig at the scene. During questioning, Craig admitted that he had been filming the area, including the shopping centre and its surroundings, for his own personal use. This revelation prompted further investigation.
Police officers seized Craig’s mobile device, which contained over 30 minutes of unusual footage. The content was deemed inappropriate and concerning, prompting further legal action. Craig was taken to Dunfermline Sheriff Court, where he pleaded guilty to a breach of the peace. The court sentenced him to 14 weeks in prison for his actions. Additionally, Craig was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of seven years, reflecting the severity of his misconduct and the potential risk posed to the community.
