SAJAAD KHAN FROM KEIGHLEY SENTENCED TO THREE YEARS FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT OF 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN BRADFORD
In June 2017, Sajaad Khan, a 26-year-old man residing on Nashville Terrace, Fell Lane, Keighley, was sentenced to a prison term of three years after being found guilty of multiple sexual offenses involving a vulnerable 15-year-old girl. The incident took place in Bradford, where Khan’s actions shocked the court and drew widespread condemnation.
At Bradford Crown Court, the presiding judge, Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC, described Khan as callous and arrogant during the sentencing.
The jury had deliberated for a week before returning a verdict of guilty on three counts of sexual assault committed against the teenage girl, who was described as lost and isolated at the time of the offenses.
The court heard that the assaults occurred in the early hours of October 22 of the previous year.
The court was told that Khan had picked up the girl in his vehicle in the Keighley area around midnight.
She was described as cold, vulnerable, and disoriented, having gone out to meet her boyfriend, who failed to show up.
Without her phone, she found herself stranded in an unfamiliar town.
Khan then drove her around at high speed, taking her to secluded locations where he sexually assaulted her.
During the ordeal, Khan touched her naked breast and upper thigh, and coerced her into touching him indecently.
When she attempted to call her boyfriend by grabbing Khan’s phone, he responded by driving her back to the point where he had initially picked her up and then forcibly ejected her from the vehicle.
The judge emphasized that Khan, despite his previous good character and hard-working nature, had fallen into a state of irresponsibility and misconduct that night.
Judge Durham Hall remarked that Khan’s behavior was a night of madness and recklessness.
He criticized Khan for attempting to portray himself as a protector or rescuer, stating, “She was 15.
She was vulnerable.
You were 25.
You were in charge.” The judge condemned Khan’s actions as utterly callous, especially considering the girl’s age and vulnerability.
He further described the incident as an outrageous departure from Khan’s otherwise good character, emphasizing the severity of the misconduct.
As part of his sentence, Khan is required to register as a sex offender for ten years, reflecting the gravity of his crimes and the court’s stance on protecting minors from such predatory behavior.
