SEX ATTACKER BANNED FROM CITY CENTRE

Update: Ryan Kenny, 30, died on 9 April 2025 after being released from HMP Altcourse earlier that day.

Police found him unresponsive at 5:53pm on the side of a street close to the Approved Premises he was meant to attend.

Toxicology showed he had consumed alcohol before death.

His official cause of death was unascertained.

A disruptive individual described as a "drunken nuisance" caused chaos on a bus, warning passengers with the phrase, "I'm going to nonce you up." Today, Ryan Kenny was issued a court order banning him from Liverpool city centre after committing multiple offences, including sexually assaulting a student, stealing Toblerones at B&M, and breaking into Specsavers during a burglary.

Despite such measures, he told a judge: "I'm going back to town whether you like it or not." Liverpool Crown Court was told on Friday that the 28-year-old had boarded a double-decker bus in September 2021.

He sat next to a man and across from a teenage girl returning from college.

Kenny asked if they wanted to buy tobacco before touching her on the thigh.

Prosecutor Louise McCloskey recounted how she ordered him to stop, but he responded by making an advance toward her thigh.

When others challenged him, he threatened: "I'll touch you all up.

I'm going to nonce you up.

I bet you'd like it." Before his exit, Kenny joked about slapping a man’s backside and then did so.

The victim reported him, though Kenny persisted in shouting threats of violence.

He claimed not to be odd, saying, "I'm not a muppet, I'm not a weirdo.

I'm a normal person." He accused passengers of calling him a nonce, stating, "He was calling me a nonce.

They were all calling me a nonce on the bus." On later dates, Kenny stole two bottles of vodka from Solo.

After discovering one was empty, he smashed it, and he poured the remaining content into a coke bottle.

He also tried to steal from Tesco, was caught, and then returned to a bar, where he threw glass and chairs.

He told police he committed thefts for fun and would not stop until jailed.

In April, he stole Toblerones and Daim bars from B&M, and police officers caught him running away.

He ran into a pub where he was detained and verbally racially abused officers.

Five days afterward, he was seen vandalising Specsavers' window and attempting to steal glasses.

He admitted during police interview to being very drunk and expressed remorse.

His criminal record includes 63 convictions for 94 offences.

His lawyer argued his conduct stemmed from substance abuse issues rather than predatory intent.

She highlighted his efforts at recovery and expressed cautious optimism.

Kenny pled guilty to multiple charges and was sentenced to 28 months in prison via video link from HMP Altcourse.

A three-year criminal behaviour order was also imposed, restricting him from the city centre.

He responded to the sentence by vaping and stating, "I'm going back to town whether you like it or not.

I live there, I'm homeless - I'm in the homeless community.

I live in jail.

Jail is my home." He will also be registered as a sex offender for ten years.

Judge David Swinnerton said: "This sexual assault wasn't motivated by you being some sort of sexual predator.

You are someone who was drunk and a nuisance."
