MAN JAILED FOR SEVEN YEARS FOR NON-CONTACT CHILD SEX OFFENCES
Ryan Greenhow, born on 20 February 1989 and from Oldham, was sentenced to seven years and four months in prison at Manchester Crown Court on Tuesday, 24 February 2026.Greenhow admitted to 22 charges related to child sex offences during an earlier hearing.
These included child sexual exploitation, sharing images or videos to cause alarm, inducing or inciting a child under 16 to act sexually, and malicious communications.
The crimes took place between November 2024 and March 2025, with Greenhow reaching out to six victims via social media apps such as WhatsApp, TikTok, and Snapchat.
He coerced his victims into sending him indecent images by threatening them.
He would send an obscene image to children aged 12 to 15, falsely claiming it depicted them but was actually a picture of a naked woman taken from the internet.
Greenhow then threatened to distribute these images to the victims' friends and family if they did not comply.
His demands extended to seeking additional indecent images from victims across Greater Manchester, Lancashire, and Buckinghamshire.
Greenhow also communicated with his victims through relentless text messages, warning them that everyone would know about their images and requesting contact with phrases like “This is your last chance, everyone will know this is you” and “I have seen your nudes, add me.” Some victims responded when unsure of his intentions but continued to receive threatening messages.
Several victims did submit images and later reported Greenhow’s conduct to their parents, carers, or school staff.
As part of his sentence, Greenhow will also be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order to restrict his future activities.
