RUSSELL MAITLAND FROM PETERHEAD SENTENCED FOR CHILD SEX OFFENSES IN ABERDEEN
A man from Peterhead, identified as Russell Maitland, has been formally sentenced after admitting to a series of serious criminal charges involving the sexual abuse of children and indecent exposure. The case was heard at the High Court in Aberdeen, where Maitland, aged 37, faced multiple allegations that spanned several years and took place across different locations within Aberdeenshire and the city itself.Initially, Maitland entered a plea of not guilty to the charges, which included two counts of raping children under the age of 13. However, before the trial could proceed, he changed his plea to guilty on all counts. One of the charges of rape was subsequently reduced to sexual assault, reflecting the court's assessment of the evidence and the nature of the offenses.
