ROY HUNT SENTENCED TO EIGHT YEARS IN GUILDFORD FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS ON SIX-YEAR-OLD GIRL
A man identified as Roy Hunt has been sentenced to a prison term of eight years after being found guilty of multiple sexual offenses committed against a young girl aged just six years old.The sentencing took place at Guildford Crown Court on Friday, where the court heard the details of Hunt’s disturbing crimes.
Hunt, who is 84 years old and resides in Guildford, was convicted on seven counts of sexual assault and two counts of sexual assault by penetration.
The case came to light after a lengthy investigation, during which police revealed that it took the victim four years before she was able to disclose what had happened to her.
The assaults reportedly began in 2017, but it was not until 2021 that the young girl, then under ten years old, confided in her mother through a handwritten note.
In this note, she detailed the abuse she had endured at the hands of Hunt, providing police with a clear and consistent account of the incidents.
Detective Constable Claire Phillips expressed her admiration for the girl’s bravery, stating, "I want to recognise the girl’s strength during the investigation." She added, "She was under 10 years old when she told her mother what Hunt had been inflicting on her and was able to give police a detailed and consistent account of what took place." DC Phillips emphasized that Hunt’s imprisonment was largely due to the credible evidence provided by the young victim.
She also expressed hope that, with Hunt now behind bars, the girl and her family will find some measure of relief and be able to move forward, acknowledging the courage it took for her to come forward.
In addition to his prison sentence, Hunt has been subjected to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order, which aims to restrict his contact and activities to prevent further offenses.
Furthermore, he is required to register as a sex offender, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his conduct in the community.
