MAN JAILED FOR STALKING, STRANGLING, AND BREAKING INTO EX’S HOME
A man named Jake Alexander, born on January 14, 1992, has been sentenced to one year and 10 months in prison after he engaged in a campaign of stalking and domestic abuse against his former partner.The court found that Alexander repeatedly harassed her by calling, messaging, emailing, and physically arriving at her residence over a two-year relationship, despite her attempts to end it more than 50 times.
He broke into her home on several occasions, including while she was asleep, and stole her belongings in a misguided effort to garner her attention.
The altercations escalated to violence when he strangled her on a few occasions.
Alexander, who had been under bail conditions since December 2022 not to contact the survivor, repeatedly ignored these restrictions, including calling her with no caller ID, begging her not to cooperate with police, and offering her money to stay silent.
He was convicted of stalking, non-fatal strangulation, and perverting the course of justice at Guildford Crown Court.
He has been remanded in prison since March and remains there.
Following sentencing on November 15, the court imposed a five-year restraining order against him to protect the survivor.
Surrey Police and investigating officer Charlotte Barrett praised the survivor's bravery in coming forward and emphasized the importance of reporting domestic abuse.
