MILTON KEYNES MAN ROY GREEN, 81, JAILED FOR HISTORIC CHILD ABUSE IN ACCRINGTON
Roy Green, 81, of Sovereign Drive in Milton Keynes, groomed and abused children during the 1990s, targeting vulnerable boys and exploiting his position within a youth football team to gain their trust.The abuse was mainly carried out in the Accrington area between 1994 and 1999.
The devastating words of one of Green's victims were read in court today (April 2) as he was sentenced for a catalogue of sexual crimes against young boys.
He said: “I am a grown man but inside me still lives the boy I once was.
A boy who was hurt, silenced and forced to carry a weight no child should ever bear.
The abuse I suffered did not end when the acts stopped.
It has lived with me every single day since.
It has left deep emotional and psychological scars that have shaped my life, my relationships and my sense of safety in the world.” The court heard from the victims, through their victim impact statements, how his vile abuse had affected their lives, before passing sentence.
His abuse affected their whole lives, including relationships, their ability to trust others and show affection.
Some suffered with their mental health, with anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Green began grooming the boys in his early 50s, using cigarettes, chocolate, pornography and alcohol to manipulate his victims, many of whom were from vulnerable backgrounds.
The abuse came to light after one survivor came forward in 2023.
A police investigation subsequently identified further victims, all of whom had the courage to speak out about the abuse.
Green was arrested, made no comment during interviews, and later pleaded guilty at his first court appearance in December 2025.
In December 2025, he pleaded guilty to 32 charges relating to historic sexual assaults against male children between the ages of 8-14 between 1994-1999.
Alex Mann from the Crown Prosecution Service said: "Roy Green groomed and coerced the young boys in his community for his own sexual gratification despite the fact they could never consent to sexual activity.
He positioned himself as a responsible man, helping youngsters in a youth football team, but his motives were much more sinister.
He got to know the boys, offering them lifts home and over time groomed them using sweets, chocolate, cigarettes, and sometimes alcohol.
"Green exploited the boys with no concern for them or the impact his abuse from a young age would have on their lives.
I hope the victims can now begin to move forward knowing that because of their evidence and support, Roy Green has been brought to justice.
