HARRISON LANGFORD AND SHOCKING CHILD GROOMING AND SEXUAL ABUSE IN MILTON KEYNES AND KENT
On 19 August 2022, Harrison Langford initiated a disturbing online campaign targeting a 13-year-old girl through various chat applications. His messages quickly shifted towards explicit content, as he persistently urged her to share indecent images.
This grooming process marked the beginning of a series of alarming events that would see Langford crossing serious legal boundaries.
Langford, aged 28 and residing in King Street, Milton Keynes, took a step further on 3 September by traveling from his home area to Kent.
He arranged to meet the young girl in person and drove to her location in his BMW.
During this encounter, Langford engaged in sexual acts with the girl inside the vehicle, acts that he repeated the following day, indicating a pattern of abusive behavior.
A week into these incidents, on 10 September, Langford returned to Maidstone, a town in Kent, having secretly booked a hotel room.
Once there, he picked up the victim once again, took her to the hotel, and continued his predatory conduct, sexually abusing her repeatedly.
This pattern of abuse not only exposed the girl to immediate harm but also caused long-term psychological damage.
Following these events, the girl made the brave decision to report the offences to the police.
Kent Police responded swiftly, leading to Langford's arrest at the hotel where the abuse had taken place.
His actions sparked a thorough investigation into his conduct.
Langford was brought before Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday, 14 December.
During the hearing, he pleaded guilty to four criminal charges, which included grooming a child and engaging in sexual activity with a minor.
His cooperation with the court proceedings paved the way for sentencing.
The court handed down a sentence of five years' imprisonment to Langford.
Additionally, he was placed under an extended license period of three years, meaning he will be under supervision after his release for a significant period.
A Sexual Harm Prevention Order was also imposed to prevent him from engaging in further contact of a sexual nature with minors.
Investigating officer PC Marcus Easter, of the West Kent Vulnerability Investigation Team, expressed his thoughts on the case, stating, “Langford purposefully targeted and groomed a child.
He repeatedly subjected her to sexual abuse, exploiting her for his own gratification, all the while fully aware of the profound and lasting damage his actions would have.
We are grateful to the victim for her bravery in coming forward and hope that today’s sentencing offers her some comfort.
Kent Police remains dedicated to combating all forms of child sexual exploitation and protecting vulnerable individuals.
Dedicated teams across the county continue to work tirelessly to support victims and bring offenders to justice.”
