ROSS COLEMAN FROM HIGHAM FERRERS ESCAPES JAIL AFTER STREAMING CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE VIDEOS IN LEICESTER CROWN COURT

In a case that has shocked the community of Higham Ferrers, Ross Coleman, a 42-year-old man with a disturbing secret, was brought before Leicester Crown Court to face serious allegations related to the possession and viewing of child sexual abuse material. The incident came to light after police investigations uncovered Coleman’s involvement in streaming and possessing indecent images of children, some as young as four years old.

According to court reports, Coleman was arrested at his family residence in October 2018. The police raid was prompted by suspicions regarding his online activities. During the search, officers seized various items, including Coleman’s personal mobile phone. An examination of the device revealed a troubling collection of thumbnail images linked to videos he had been watching on his Smart TV. Prosecutor Joey Kwong detailed the findings, stating that the police discovered a total of 80 indecent images of children on the device. Of these, 45 were classified as the most severe category A images, with an additional 20 in category B and 15 in category C. These files depicted the sexual abuse of young girls, some as young as four years old, and had been downloaded over a span of two years.

Coleman, who was employed as a special sergeant with Northamptonshire Police’s safer roads team at the time, later resigned from his position. He was also known to have worked as an Asda delivery driver in Brackmills. When questioned by police, Coleman initially refused to comment but eventually admitted to three counts of possessing indecent images of children before Christmas. He is a father of three children and was supported in court by his parents, who had taken him in after he was reportedly kicked out by his partner.

During the hearing, Judge Rhona Campbell addressed Coleman directly, emphasizing the gravity of his actions. She stated, “These are crimes with victims. If people like you did not sit in your house watching this material, there would not be any need for any poor little girls to be taken from their homes and be sexually exploited. They are because there is a market for people like you to watch this stuff. They are someone’s daughter… they are all lives that have been affected by this type of offending.”

It was revealed that Coleman has sought help from his general practitioner in an effort to combat what was described as his “addiction” to child sex images and to “fight his demons.” The court acknowledged these steps as part of his attempt to address his behavior. As a result, Judge Campbell decided to suspend Coleman’s prison sentence, which was originally set for one year. Instead, he received an 18-month suspended sentence, meaning he will not serve time in prison unless he commits further offenses within that period.

In addition to the suspended sentence, Coleman is required to complete 120 hours of unpaid community work, participate in 35 days of rehabilitation programs, and adhere to a sexual harm prevention order that restricts his internet usage. Northamptonshire Police have been contacted for further comment on the case, which continues to serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against online child exploitation and the importance of vigilance in safeguarding vulnerable children.
