ROSS BUCHAN FROM DUNDEE ACCUSED OF CHILD SEX OFFENCES AND BOMB THREAT ON LOGANAIR FLIGHT

A 20-year-old man named Ross Buchan from Dundee has appeared before the court to face serious allegations involving child sex offences and a false bomb threat targeting an aircraft. The incident began on January 4, when Buchan allegedly made a series of phone calls from his residence in Pitalpin Court, Dundee, claiming that an explosive device was onboard a Loganair flight traveling from Glasgow to Kirkwall. These calls caused significant disruption, leading to delays for several flights and prompting an immediate police response.

Following his arrest, Buchan was brought before Dundee Sheriff Court on the following Monday to face the charges. Court documents reveal that between November 18 and 25 of the previous year, he is accused of sending sexually explicit images and videos to a minor. In addition to these disturbing communications, it is alleged that he made violent threats towards the child, including threats to stab and kill the youth. These allegations paint a disturbing picture of the accused’s conduct during that period.

Furthermore, Buchan faces serious accusations related to the false bomb threat. It is alleged that he repeatedly made phone calls with the intent to deceive and induce a false belief that a bomb or other explosive device was present on the aircraft. The specific flight involved was Loganair flight LM432, which was en route from Glasgow to Kirkwall at the time of the threats. The aircraft was in the air, carrying multiple passengers and crew members, when the threats were made, causing alarm and disruption among those onboard.

During the court proceedings, the case was called in private on petition, and no plea was entered on behalf of Buchan by his solicitor, Anika Jethwa. The presiding sheriff, Clair McLachlan, decided to remand Buchan in custody for further examination of the case. The court has scheduled a second appearance for him next week, where additional legal proceedings are expected to take place.
