The abuse spanned over three years, during which Shephard exploited his position of trust to carry out a series of sexual offenses against the teenage girl.

Between 2004 and 2006, Shephard targeted the girl during moments when she was most vulnerable, often when she was alone and away from her friends and family. One of the recurring situations involved him driving her home after attending a concert, during which he would subject her to inappropriate and abusive behavior. His actions included forcibly kissing her, touching her inappropriately, exposing himself, and pressing his body against her in a manner that was both invasive and coercive.

Over time, Shephard’s persistent misconduct led the young girl to perceive his behavior as normal, a tragic consequence of ongoing abuse that can distort a victim’s understanding of acceptable boundaries. On April 13, 2018, Shephard, now aged 66, pleaded guilty to charges of sexual activity with a child. His guilty plea resulted in a sentence of 15 months in prison.
