RANDY TIRBANIE SENTENCED IN ST LEONARDS FOR RAPE AND SUFFOCATION CRIME
A man from St Leonards has been formally convicted and sentenced for a serious sexual assault and an act of suffocation involving a teenage girl. The incident, which has shocked the local community, took place on the 16th of February at an address within St Leonards. The victim, a 16-year-old girl who cannot be publicly identified due to legal restrictions, was known to the offender, Randy Tirbanie.According to reports, Tirbanie, aged 43 and residing on St Matthews Road in St Leonards, committed the assault by raping the girl and then suffocating her with a pillow. The assault was reported to the police shortly after it occurred, prompting immediate action from law enforcement authorities. Tirbanie was swiftly arrested on the same day of the incident, demonstrating the police’s prompt response to the serious allegations.
Following his arrest, Tirbanie was formally charged with two counts of rape and one count of suffocation. The case proceeded to a five-day trial at Lewes Crown Court, which commenced on August 12. After careful consideration of the evidence presented, the jury found Tirbanie guilty on all three counts. His conviction marked a significant step in delivering justice for the victim and holding the offender accountable for his actions.
On September 27, Tirbanie appeared before Lewes Crown Court once again, where he was sentenced to a total of 12 years and six months in prison.
