PRIVATE HIRE DRIVER SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES
A driver providing private hire services from Hastings has received a prison sentence after being found guilty of multiple sexual offences in two separate trials.Abdulhamid Alammar, aged 34 and residing in the Baldslow area of St Leonards-on-Sea, appeared before Brighton Crown Court on 5 May.
He was sentenced to three years in prison and was also placed under a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Alammar was convicted of sexual assault and causing a person to engage in non-penetrative sexual acts during a trial held at Lewes Crown Court.
The offences occurred in Hastings in late 2024.
The court was told that on 29 November 2024, a woman in her 30s booked a cab to return home from a friend’s address.
Instead of taking her directly to her destination, Alammar drove her to a secluded area, where he committed a sexual assault.
These offences were uncovered during investigations into a separate sexual assault reported in April 2025 by another woman in Hastings.
Once the initial incident was disclosed, police supported the victim through specialist officers and initiated an investigation.
Alammar was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with the November incident, while he was already in custody over the April allegations.
Prior to these events, Alammar had been convicted in October 2025 for sexual assault related to the April offences, and he was acquitted of rape and sexual assault by penetration.
Both cases were resolved when Alammar was sentenced at Brighton Crown Court on 5 May for all charges, following the conclusion of the trials.
