RONALD HALL FROM LIVERPOOL SENTENCED FOR ABUSE IN ST HELENS AND FRANCE
Ronald Hall, a man originally from St Helens and recently residing in France, has been handed down a five-year prison sentence after being convicted on 13 counts of indecent assault involving two teenage girls. The crimes took place over a span of several years, from 1983 to 1989, and the case was heard at Liverpool Crown Court.During the proceedings, it was detailed that Hall engaged in a series of inappropriate and sexually charged behaviors towards the victims. These acts included asking one girl if she 'liked it' while pressing her against a kitchen sink, an incident that was particularly disturbing. It was also revealed that Hall intentionally dropped his towel to expose himself, further violating the victims. The assaults involved both acts over and under their clothing, indicating a pattern of predatory behavior.
One of the victims described feeling 'haunted' by the traumatic events, revealing that she suffers from daily suicidal thoughts as a result of her experiences. The other victim reported enduring both mental and physical harm, highlighting the profound and lasting impact of Hall’s actions. Prosecutor Gerald Baxter emphasized that Hall’s conduct caused 'severe psychological harm,' underscoring the seriousness of the offenses.
In the courtroom, Judge Denis Watson KC considered a threatening card that was handed to the court, which he believed contained a threat to kill. However, the judge also noted that there was no evidence to suggest that any family member of Hall was responsible for the threat. Throughout the trial, Hall’s defense team pointed to his good behavior in his adult life, emphasizing his role in providing emotional and practical support to his family and friends.
As Hall was led away to serve his sentence, he displayed some emotional gestures, blowing kisses and mouthing 'I love you' to his family members present in court. Despite the history of offenses, the court acknowledged the harm inflicted on the victims and sentenced him to five years in prison, reflecting the gravity of his actions and the impact on those affected.
